The History Of The Wedding Invitation

February 4th, 2012 by admin

Believe it or not but the wedding invitation has been around since the Middle Ages.?? Things have changes a little since it early beginnings where only the wealthy families of those days could afford to hire monks that were skilled in calligraphy to hand write the wedding invitation.

With the invention lithography wedding invites became more affordable for the common man and opened the way for the printed wedding invite to gain popularity.? It was at this time as well that the double envelope emerged.? The use of the double envelope still remains today but originally the double envelope was used as a way of protecting the invitation as it traveled to it recipient by horseback.

So even though things have changed a little through the years a wedding invite is still the best way to let your friends and family know about your special day and let them know that you would like them to celebrate it with you.
